If you’re anything like the rest of us, inspiration is in short supply. I looked at the grocery store, trying to breathe through my mask. All out. Empty shelf. So I might get a substitution. What else could I use in place of it? It’s not as though I’m inspired every waking hour anyway.
What about just playing with colors or line? Could you do an entire picture in blues? I could just work in my sketchbook, trying out some ideas. Take a successful piece and re-do one part of it.
Or just sit and look your work. Or look at art history images. Maybe learn more about an interesting artist that you don’t know much about, like Howard Hodgkin or Pier Kirkby or David Hockney. Inspiration is for amateurs, as the saying goes, the rest just show up and get to work. I’ll see you there, and we can talk about it. There will be times when you need to re-charge and you can’t do anything, and that is necessary. Jenn
